For a quasi-molecular mechanism of cosmological recombination, a scheme of calculation based on a rigorous quantum-mechanical approach is elaborated. The probability of free-bound radiative transition into an excited state of a quasi-molecule temporarily formed by a colliding electron and two nearest neighboring protons is derived in a closed algebraic form. The impact of the neighboring proton on recombination is shown to be significant in the pre-recombination stage of evolution of the Universe.
